Titanium is the chemical element in the Periodic Table with the symbol Ti and the atomic number 22. It is one of the transition metals. Light, solid, ductile, with a white metallic sheen and resistant to corrosion, it is particularly suitable for high-mobility and corrosive applications. It is notable for its high strength, given its relatively low density. Above a temperature of 400 °C, however, these strength characteristics rapidly tail off. High-purity titanium is an easily-worked material.
