Geneva-based artist Flora Mottini’s paintings on anodised surface

Geneva-based artist Flora Mottini uses the technical possibilities of BWB Surface technology in Stans to work her vision of a painting deep into the anodised surface of aluminium plates. The plates are industrially anodised for this purpose before Flora Mottini applies the pre-sketched painting with the appropriate colour pigments in a demonstration of virtuoso handwork. The colours penetrate the surface to varying depths, after which the anodising process is completed by sealing the surface.

The paintings with their impressive illusion of depth are part of her art installation meanspace, which will be exhibited at Helmhaus Zürich from 22 April to 20 June.
