A milestone with a vision

12.07.2022

After ten years of designing and construction, the new Winterthur cantonal hospital building was completed in early 2022. It is one of ten largest hospitals in Switzerland. The new facility guarantees healthcare is available in the region for the long term.

It has a floor space of 61,000 sq m and is visible from afar. High-quality materials were used to ensure it fit attractively into its surrounds. The building boasts a lightweight façade consisting of travertine, anodised aluminium in the Permalux P2 shade, and expansive glass panes that provide unobstructed views of Winterthur.

Its sustainable design saw it become the first hospital in Zurich canton to be certified with the Minergie-P-Eco label awarded to particularly eco-friendly and sustainable structures.
