Identity-creating color scheme in the Goldern garden city district
The quiet location and generous green spaces in Aarau’s Goldern neighborhood are in demand and make the site a popular residential area. In the middle of the greenery of the so-called garden city, the four replacement residential buildings Goldern with 60 apartments are being built, of which the first building was completed in 2019. The material and color scheme of the apartment buildings is based on the surroundings, with color-anodised aluminium parapets in Sandalor® Olive Yellow S100-2 enclosing the light-colored wooden facade.
“Inwardly, an open space is created without visible boundaries, yet its zoning suggests where communal space ends and privacy begins,” Schneider & Schneider Architects write of the interplay between the green spaces and the residential buildings.
