Fine accents
With its glazed façade, vertical wooden slats and striking horizontal bands of anodized aluminium using the Permalux process, the extension to the Fribourg Cantonal and University Library makes a precise architectural statement. The transparent courtyard façade opens onto the new library garden and creates a light-flooded space that emphasizes the dialogue between the historic building and the contemporary architecture. The clear layout and delicate structure are reminiscent of a modern pavilion and give the ensemble a new identity.

Aluminum and wood dialog
The horizontal bands of anodized aluminium were executed using the exclusive Permalux process. Together with the vertical wooden slats, they structure the façade and give the extension a clear, contemporary structure. The combination of wood and aluminum not only combines warmth and precision, but also stands for a sustainable, long-lasting façade design.
