Architecture characterizes trendy quarter with colored anodized aluminum surfaces

A new quarter with more than 600 apartments is being built on the former industrial site of the Geistlich company in Schlieren. In this context, the “24 mila baci” residential development makes a decisive contribution to the identity of the residential environment that is being created.

The façade is a play on the anodized colors Bausilber and Sandalor Blau from BWB Surface Technology. Towards the street, the building silver balconies, in contrast with the dark blue facade, accentuate attention. In the courtyard, the bright gold tone is used extensively, which makes it wake up friendly with the first rays of sunlight.

BWB Surface Technology anodized over 7,000 m2 of aluminium sheet for the project over a period of several months. The aluminum sheets were assembled in two layers for anodizing treatment and anodized around the clock on the fully automated 7.5-meter line. This involved a series of immersion processes to pickle, anodize, color and then heat seal the sheets.

The bold use of the colored anodized facade shapes the building architecturally and functionally. The aluminum facade is lightfast and easy to clean, which allows to maintain the original character for decades. In the event of future dismantling, the aluminum can be recycled with almost no loss of quality and put to a new use.
