Iridescent surface
The aluminium façades and window cladding anodized by BWB in Permagreen, a color from the Permacolor spectrum, bring a calm movement to the building. Despite being anodized, the iridescent surface retains the metallic character of the base material and thus absorbs the changing light moods from morning to evening and throughout the seasons.
Spatial mergers
The detached house with attached apartment building by Refolio Architekten is nestled on a gentle slope with a view of the lake. The location shapes both the orientation of the building and the choice of materials, giving the building a direct relationship to the landscape. The anodized aluminium façade and the window cladding are central design elements.
The architects’ guiding principle was to merge the inside with the outside and vice versa. Generous glazing opens up the building to the lake and the garden. Despite the two uses as a multi-storey detached house and residential units spread over three storeys, the building appears as a unit. Vertical divisions and intermediate sections in trapezoidal sheet metal combine the staggered levels into a coherent volume.
