Timelessly fresh since 2008 thanks to anodized façade
Built in 1970, the high-rise building of the Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects (SIA) characterizes Zurich’s urban space due to its location and significance. In 2008, Romero & Schäfle Architekten gave it a comprehensive renovation.
The new aluminium façade, anodized by BWB Surface Technology in natural tone/natural tone EV1, is particularly striking and still defines the architectural expression today. Anodizing leaves the metallic structure of the aluminium visible, preserving the depth and vibrancy of the material.
Renewal with consistency
Anodizing creates an extremely resistant protective layer on aluminium that provides lasting protection against the effects of the weather and minimizes maintenance. This advantage is particularly evident on large façade surfaces: even after almost two decades, the building still looks fresh and of high quality. The homogeneous surface lends the building a calm elegance and the architectural presence remains unbroken over the years.
The project thus impressively confirms how anodized aluminium not only convinces technically, but also aesthetically in the long term.
