At the Dresden site, the fire protection team refreshed its knowledge and trained in a practical manner. Realistic scenarios were rehearsed with the targeted use of smoke in the production area and the use of various extinguishing devices. This ensures that procedures and actions are routine in the event of an emergency.
“A quick and practiced response can be crucial in an emergency. That’s why we consistently focus on training, technical precautions and raising the awareness of all employees,” explains Volker Dittel, head of the fire protection team.
‘Fire in the electroplating area!’ – hopefully, this will only ever be heard during drills across all BWB surface treatment sites.
At the same time, the company is investing in additional safety: a modern sprinkler system is currently being installed in the production areas. This is another important step towards minimizing risks and creating a safe working environment for employees and a reliable environment for our customers.

Safety does not end at the factory gate in Dresden
Fire protection and prevention also take center stage at the other BWB Surface Technology sites. For example, a joint training session with the local fire department took place at the Brasov plant this year – a strong example of the close cooperation between our teams and regional emergency services. With such measures, we as an entire group of companies ensure that safety is not just a standard, but a lived value.
