Industrial painter - precision, creativity and bright prospects

Jarno Künzler is at the end of his training as an industrial painter EFZ. Painting is an art for him: a perfect, even result simply gives him pleasure. In a few weeks, the twenty-year-old from eastern Switzerland will graduate - he will stay with the company for the time being and gain further practical experience.

A profession that inspires

As an industrial painter, Jarno not only works with paint, but also creates surfaces that protect machines, vehicles or components and make them look impressive at the same time. “The combination of technical precision and aesthetic sensitivity is what makes this job so special,” explains Jarno, adding: “I’m particularly enthusiastic about black: it’s a demanding paint job where you have to achieve an even and precise result. Unlike white, there is hardly any scope for touch-ups with black.”

Industrielackierer:in – Präzision, Kreativität und glänzende Perspektiven

Trainer Michael Graf adds: “It’s impressive to see how apprentices like Jarno develop – both professionally and personally. At the beginning of their training, they are often still learning the basics, but after three years they have already mastered complex painting techniques and projects.”

The goal: the perfect surface

For the paint experts, the perfect surface is not just smooth and glossy: it must meet the functional and visual requirements of the end use. Jarno proudly adds: “Wet coating is an art for me and a perfectly even result is simply a pleasure.” This attention to detail also inspires trainer and division manager Michael Graf: “The best thing is when the apprentices are proud of their work at the end – and they can be. Industrial painters do precision work that is often only visible at second glance.”

Jarno’s tip:

Believe in yourself and listen to yourself. Painting requires a certain sense of balance: when is the surface perfect, when is it better to stop, and when is every further spray too much. An overpainted surface is difficult to correct – like an oversalted dish, it can be time-consuming or even impossible to undo the damage.

Teamwork and modern technology

Training young people is a crucial step in their professional and personal development. A supportive team and the guidance of a mentor play a key role in the successful completion of this important phase of life. At Altenrhein, apprentices are integrated into a functioning team right from the start.

"The team is essential throughout the training: everyone makes their contribution and shows their strengths, which makes it easier to learn," emphasizes Jarno. The apprenticeship will start again in the summer with a new team. Jarno, who will soon have completed his apprenticeship, adds: "Of course, it's particularly nice that as a newly qualified industrial painter EFZ, I can support a new person in all matters right from the start."

Your chance to get off to a flying start

"If you like working creatively and with your hands, you've come to the right place!" says Michael Graf. "It's the perfect job for anyone who wants to create something with their hands and use modern technology at the same time."
