Plasma and electrochemical polishing

Plasma polishing and electropolishing are electrochemically ablative processes for cleaning, fine deburring and polishing of metallic workpieces. The processes can be used to clean welds, remove tarnish and polish surfaces. The surface of plasma and electrochemical polished workpieces convinces with highest purity, sustainable corrosion resistance and a noble appearance with high gloss. Because of these properties, these processes are often used in various industries, such as medical technology, semiconductors, aerospace, and watches and jewelry.

Highest purity

Electrolytic processes such as electrochemical polishing, plasma polishing and electrolytic etching enable effective cleaning and processing of metal surfaces, removing impurities and producing a smooth and uniform surface with high reproducibility.

BWB Surface Technology specialises in the electrolytic polishing of stainless steel parts – from bright parts for the watch industry to pure parts for medical technology (ISO 13485) to heavily stressed parts in mechanical engineering and precision mechanics.

Electrochemical polishing

Electrochemical polishing is an electrochemically ablative process for cleaning and polishing of metallic workpieces. Electrochemical polishing is used for decorative and technical reasons. In medical technology, the process is used for ultra-fine deburring and for reducing germ adhesion. At jewelry design, the process enjoys great popularity to increase the gloss level of the surface.

Plasma polishing

Plasma polishing is a further development of electrochemical polishing. While electrochemical polishing is the right process for bulk and simple applications, plasma polishing is used for increased surface quality and cleanliness requirements. In addition, the process of plasma polishing is completely free of environmentally harmful substances.

Electrolytic etching

Electrolytic etching is a process for the surface treatment of metals in which metal oxides and other contaminants are removed from the surface of the workpiece by applying an electrical voltage in a suitable acid solution.
