Hard anodising of aluminium (also known as hard-coat anodising) creates extremely durable, non-corrosive protective coatings with excellent sliding properties that can be further improved through PTFE impregnation. Hard anodising can be used for materials exposed to extreme wear and tear, such as in mechanical engineering or aerospace.
- High degree of wear protection
- Highly heat-resistant
- Good electrical insulation
- Highly corrosion-resistant
- Highly chemical-resistant
- Extraordinary hardness
- Coat thicknesses of between 25 and 120 µm
Hard anodisation (GSX)
In addition to outstanding resistance to wear and corrosion, the ceramic hard-anodised coatings also offer excellent electrical insulation. Extra blackening can visually enhance visible sections, while PTFE impregnation can further optimise sliding properties.
Heloxal (High-performance anodising)
Heloxal is a BWB Surface technology product innovation. The process results in superior corrosion-resistance and a high degree of electric strength (see groundbreaking innovation in hard anodising). State-of-the-art systems engineering also ensures maximum reproducibility and seamless traceability.
Hard ematal is used when friction from mechanical contact (e.g. friction bearings), flow (e.g. valve housing and jets for gases or liquids) or a combination of the two (in pneumatics and hydraulics) needs to be minimised. (learn more)
