The HYDRO Chair is the result of a collaboration between British designer Tom Dixon and the Norwegian aluminum company Hydro. The limited edition chair was blow molded using Superplatic Forming. The process from the automotive industry realizes highly complex shapes whose implementation seemed impossible just a few years ago. Tom Dixon thus gives his chair the necessary rigidity and strength by means of balloon-like pattern.
The resulting design appears soft and playful in contrast to the metal. In keeping with the pop art style, BWB Surface Technology finishes the prototype in iridescent Sandalor Turquoise S160-3.
