Iconic colour scheme in the Goldern district of the 'garden city'
The highly coveted tranquil location and vast green spaces in Aarau's Goldern district make it a popular residential area. Goldern's four new residential buildings, the first of which was completed in 2019, contain 60 apartments, and are being erected in the lush surrounds of the 'garden city'. The materials and colour schemes used for the apartment blocks are inspired by the local environment, with colour-anodised aluminium ballustrading in Sandalor® Olive Yellow S100-2 wrapping around the pale timber façade.
'The interior opens up into a space with no visible boundaries, but whose zoning indicates where the common area ends and private abodes begin', writes Schneider & Schneider Architekten, describing the interplay of green spaces and residential buildings.
